
A soft blue rind washed cheese, which was crowned Supreme Champion at the Virtual Cheese Awards 2020, and scooped a Gold at the Mondial du Fromage Tours in 2021. Made from organic pasteurised cow’s milk while the set curd is hand washed in organic ale every few days as the cheese matures. Maturation takes approximately 4 weeks. Renegade Monk features in Ned Palmer’s authoritative book, “A Cheesemonger’s History of the British Isles” where it is described as a “Postmodern par excellence” (possibly because an Epoisse type cheese would never normally include a touch of blue).
